What is food and
nutrition?
“Food is any substance
consumed to provide nutritional support for the body. It is usually of plant or
animal origin, and contains essential nutrients, such as carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, or minerals. The substance is
ingested by an organism and assimilated by the organism's cells in an effort to
produce energy, maintain life, or stimulate growth.”

“Nutrition is the provision, to cells and organisms, of the materials
necessary (in the form of food) to support life. Many common health
problems can be prevented or alleviated with a healthy diet.”

As we look at the basic definition of food and nutrition we can see that
food, at the most basic level, is simply information. And, eating is a form of information exchange or
communication. As we eat, information begins to be exchanged, broken down
and assimilated within our bodies. These
processes happen on physical, chemical and energetic levels.
For example: a carrot carries inside of it information that is not only
chemical in nature (such as: beta-carotene and minerals) but also energetic
information (such as: vibrational frequencies). The energetic information also contains information imprinted within its molecular structure from things such
as where/when/how the carrot was cultivated, grown, packaged and shipped. When
consumed, we are ingesting and inserting all of this "stuff" into our
cells.
For most of us, it is easy to comprehend food in the form nutrition as
chemical information. But let us explore the energetic component for
clarification and a deeper understanding.
Masaru Emoto is a Japanese author and entrepreneur, best known for his claims that human
consciousness has an effect on the molecular structure of water. Emoto's hypothesis has evolved over the years of his research. Initially
he believed that water takes on the "resonance" of the energy which
is directed at it, and that polluted water can be restored through prayer and
positive visualization.
Since 1999
Emoto has published several volumes of a work titled Messages from Water, which contains photographs of water
crystals, and their accompanying experiments. Emoto's water crystal experiments consist of exposing
water in glasses to different words, pictures, or music, and then freezing and
examining the aesthetics of the resulting crystals with microscopic
photography. Emoto claims that different water sources produce different
crystalline structures when frozen. For example, Emoto claims that a water
sample from a mountain stream would purportedly show a geometric design that is
beautifully shaped when frozen. On the other hand, Emoto claims that polluted
water sources will be distorted and will be randomly formed.

Emoto’s work evidences the energetic imprinting of information from human
consciousness on a molecular level. Consciousness, thought or “mind energy”, is the
precipitating factor of this imprint but it is emotional energy that puts it into
action. Emotion is feelings put into electromagnetic motion allowing for potentiality of the
physical manifestation- or the imprint.
So where could this emotion information come from? The earth where the
food was grown? The farmer growing and harvesting the crops? The company
transporting and selling this food? The individual preparing the food for a
meal? You, the one eating it?
There is a lot of
information contained within just this one carrot.
Imagine what is
in an entire meal!
For starters, we may begin viewing a carrot as more than just an edible
orange thing that grows in the ground. We know it contains more than just
chemical nutrients to support our physical body. So how do we apply this basic
information to making the decision of what to eat? Basically, what we are really asking is “what
does this have to do with me and my overall health, wellbeing and quality of
life?” It may be more than you may think… So stay tuned as we pull it all together.
Coming up next- we will explore the dynamics between you and food. What is
your current relationship with food and is this truly the relationship you
desire? Or, could it benefit from a little reframing, redefining and
reestablishing?
This topic will begin to unfold in the upcoming discussion. So until then,
I leave you with this simple question to ponder before your next meal….
"Are you bringing Love to the
table"?
Many blessings,
